GUSTYLE Portable Travel Bidet Review

Are you looking for a portable bidet? It can feel overwhelming to decide which one to choose because there are so many different features! Some are electric. Some hold more water than others. Some come in fun colors . . .

Oh decisions, decisions!

Today in this blog post, we’re going to review one type of electric portable travel bidet: the GUSTYLE. Keep reading or watch the video below to learn what I think about it!

My name is Maria Lindbergh and I'm an occupational therapist. I've helped so many people make the best changes to the bathroom to live at home for a lifetime. I’m so excited to tell you all about my thoughts on the GUSTYLE electric portable bidet.

(FYI: I bought this bidet with my own money. This is not a sponsored post.)

Benefits of Using Water for Personal Hygiene

First, let’s discuss the benefits of using water to clean your booty. Personally, I recommend that everybody use water to clean their bottoms after using the toilet. I use water because it’s gentle and effective at cleaning my private parts compared to using toilet paper or wet wipes.

When you use toilet paper to wipe your bottom, it tugs your skin. Excessive wiping can lead to skin irritation and even skin infection.

If you use water, you're not tugging on your skin to thoroughly clean yourself. Using water, instead of toilet paper or wet wipes, can save you money, too.

When I use water instead of toilet paper, I tend to feel a little bit cleaner because it's kind of like taking a mini shower on the toilet. It's really important to me to use water for personal hygiene when I travel outside of my home, even if it’s just for errands.

Water makes that big of a difference on how clean I feel!

GUSTYLE Bidet Features

If you’re looking for a portable bidet that’s small and discreet, the GUSTYLE is a good choice! It weighs around 7 ounces and is 6 inches in length.

The battery and nozzle component are stored inside of the water reservoir. To assemble the portable bidet, you’ll twist the white battery/nozzle component, take it out of the reservoir, and flip it to connect the reservoir into place.

The GUSTYLE bidet has two buttons: a high intensity water spray and a low intensity water spray. Push either button once to turn it on and then push it again to turn it off.

The water nozzle adjusts up to 180 degrees, which allows you the chance to place the nozzle at the best angle for your needs!

How to Use the Portable Bidet

Take the empty water reservoir and fill it up with cool or lukewarm water at the sink. Please do not use cold or hot water because you can damage your delicate booty skin. Why would you ever want to burn or freeze your butt?

Don't you love yourself?

Then you’ll connect the reservoir with the white component and sit on the toilet with your knees slightly spread apart. Angle the nozzle into the best position for you.

Either hold the GUSTYLE bidet in front of your body or hold it behind your back. For people with female anatomy, I’d recommend spraying the water front to back to make sure fecal matter doesn’t end up in your urethra. That method will help you avoid urinary tract infections!

Once you’re positioned and ready for the water, push the high intensity water button or the low intensity water button. The water spray lasts for one minute before automatically shutting off. Refill the water reservoir and use as many times as you’d like!

When you’re finished using the water, pat your bottom dry with toilet paper or a dry towel before pulling your underwear up. Voila! You did it!

Portable Bidet Care

If the water nozzle is dirty, you can use lukewarm water and mild soap to clean it up. Next, use a clean, dry cloth to wipe down the nozzle and the remainder of the white component.

Personally, I prefer to air dry the water reservoir. If I’m not able to do that, I take a clean, dry towel or paper towel and dry out the water reservoir. Do whatever works best for your situation!

My Review

In the past, I’ve used nonelectric portable bidets when traveling outside the home. They definitely got the job done, but I like the GUSTYLE better!

First of all, the GUSTYLE is more compact. I like how the nozzle folds up perfectly against the white component and stored in the water reservoir. This is easier for me to carry in a purse or backpack compared to other portable bidets I’ve used in the past.

I took the GUSTYLE portable bidet with me to a conference, and it was in my purse the entire time. Nobody had any idea I had it until I took it out to show my friend! (We’re at THAT level of friendship.)

I used the portable bidet in the hotel and at every gas station bathroom. It was very easy for me to use in every location and very easy for me to clean. It’s important for a personal hygiene product to be easily cleaned because I don’t want to give myself an infection. The thought of poop being stuck in places I can’t reach are the stuff of nightmares for me!

I preferred the high intensity water spray function on the bidet. The pressure was just right for me! If you're a little bit more sensitive down there, the low intensity water spray works very well. You don’t need to blast yourself with the intensity of a fire hose to get thoroughly cleaned! A gentler water pressure will help you get ALL the way cleaned just the same.

Suggestions for Improvement

Looking through the lens of my occupational therapist brain, there are a couple of suggestions I’d like to make. The GUSTYLE bidet could use some color contrast on the high and low intensity buttons. With the main component being white, the buttons need to be a dark color, like black, dark gray, or dark blue. Color contrast would make it easier to see the buttons, which is great for people with low vision.

The water nozzle has a tiny notch to pull up with your finger. This could make it difficult for people with hand conditions, like arthritis, to adjust the nozzle to the best angle for them. If there was some sort of spring release function that could be used with the touch of a button, that may make it easier to use instead of the notch. If you have any other suggestions on how to make it easier to pull up the nozzle, please put it in the comments below!

Conclusion

Overall, I would say the GUSTYLE portable bidet is a great investment! I spent around $30 and it's money well spent to feel completely clean and confident in my personal hygiene. I can use it any time I leave home. I love the convenience!
