How to Use a Flip Up Grab Bar for the Bathroom

Have you ever seen a grab bar that flips, folds, and rotates?

Most grab bars just stay put in one spot on the wall. This folding and rotating grab bar by Ponte Giulio flips up and down depending on if you want to use it!

Watch the video below or keep reading to learn more about this unique grab bar!

How to Use It

The folding and rotating grab bars gives you two options on how to use it.

One way is to fold the grab bar down next to the toilet. When it’s in this position the grab bar helps you sit down and stand up from the toilet or lean to get in the best position to clean your bottom.

The other option is choosing not to use it! Flip the grab bar up against the wall and rotate it to the right or left to stay out the way.

The folding and rotating grab bar allows your visitors to make the decision if they want to use it or not. Granny and Grandpa will appreciate struggling less to get on and off the toilet!

Help the old people out, okay?

Colors

The folding and rotating grab bar come in up to 15 different colors! Whew, that’s a lot of choices!

White usually goes with everything, but if you’d like the folding and rotating grab bar to stand out then you have a lot of options to choose from!

I will say that nothing screams, “Grab me” quite like red! This is a good color if you have a family member with dementia living at home.

Sizes

The folding and rotating grab bar in the video is 24 inches long which allows for a 330 lb loading capacity.

If this is installed into a stud or blocking (which grab bars ALWAYS should be no matter what!), then it’d take quite some effort to knock this sucker off the wall!

This grab bar comes in two other lengths: 28” and 34”. The longer the folding and rotating grab bar, the less the loading capacity. Ponte Giulio has floor supports available to increase the loading capacity if you want it though!

Vinyl-Coating

The part that makes the folding and rotating grab bar unique is the vinyl-coating! It’s made with anti-microbial technology that kills up to 99.9% of viruses, bacteria, and fungi.

Kill them things dead!

If you’re a fellow clean freak like yours truly, this fact alone makes this grab bar worth purchasing!

I feel better knowing that the folding and rotating grab bar helps me not spread germs to my friends and family in the bathroom.

Cleaning

Speaking of cleaning, this grab bar takes five seconds of your time.

With the vinyl-coating, you just dampen a cloth with lukewarm water, add a little bit of dish soap if you like, and run it over the grab bar. Dry it and BAM! You’re done!

It’s so easy, I’m gonna have my two-year-old help me on this one!

Warm to the Touch

I’m not going to lie, I prefer vinyl-coated grab bars over stainless steel ones.

Why? Because the vinyl-coating feels warm to the touch for us cold-blooded types!

I’m already freezing when I take a shower, so it’s nice to hold onto a grab bar that feels warm and not shockingly cold.

People tend to use things that feel good to them! If you’re someone who has neuropathy, you know better than I that cold often brings a painful pins and needles sensation. The vinyl-coating helps you avoid feeling that!

Plus, you’re grip is better because the vinyl-coating has a sneakers on a gym floor feeling. You’re hand’s not sliding anywhere, even when it’s wet!

Wheelchair Users

Sometimes immovable grab bars aren’t the best option for wheelchair users. The wheelchair must be right next to the toilet for people to safely transfer on and off.

The folding and rotating grab bar is handy in this situation because it can be flipped up against the wall during transfers and folded down after the user is on the toilet.

It’s nice to have grab bars on the right and left of your body to hold onto while managing your clothing and cleaning your bottom. It’s a win-win!

Toilet Paper

Need a nifty spot to put toilet paper in reach? Ponte Giulio has a toilet paper holder that can go on ANY grab bar!

Make sure to put the open end away from the wall! That’ll keep the toilet paper on when you flip the grab bar up.

I’m sure you’d appreciate not chasing a toilet paper roll all over the bathroom floor!
